Find Your Passion

My Woman of Influence: Mom (Find her food musings on twitter/IG @mammatons)

Last week, I kicked off Women’s Day, not just with a slew of give-away’s for my amazing readers… but also with an event with the amazing Women of Influence organization.  Having attended some of their speaking events in the past, I was really looking forward to this hands on seminar with Carolyn Lawrence, President & CEO, Women of Influence Inc., Intro to Finding Your Passion.

I loved this talk. First, their organization, made up of really nice people, who work to support and inspire women in business. If you recall, a few years back I started We Heart This Book book club, to have a supportive group of entrepreneurial ladies all reading, growing and learning together; so the values and mission of Women of Influence I totally align with.

“Women of Influence Inc. produces inspiring, progressive, and celebratory events across the country. Our programs serve to fill the gap for women looking for mentors, looking to connect with likeminds on their path to success, or looking for unique corporate entertainment.”

This was a great seminar, where we had a walk through of (sometimes challenging) tasks to help us narrow our focus and discover our passions.  If one is passionate, then they never will work a day in their life. Life is too short to not spend it doing something that makes you happy!

We were encouraged to strive to have a job that would represent the same person we are in our personal lives. We shouldn’t have to change our personalities when we are at work. Our work should also be a reflection of ourselves.

One lady disagreed with this, and thought it was unrealistic to think you can be the same person at home and at work. Also, it is impossible to live the life and dream you want when you are faced with overwhelming bills, mortgages, and say.. 2 kids.  I totally can understand her concerns, but… why spend you very short life working a job that doesn’t wake you up with excitement everyday?  I grew up being taught that doing something you love and are passionate about will make you want to work even harder, longer, stronger… therefore eventually resulting in financial gain, happiness and most importantly… self satisfaction.

I truly enjoyed this seminar, and will redo and redo over again, the homework we were given to continue pushing to meet my goals and passions, and staying focused!

Women of Influence have some great upcoming events, seminars, talks and luncheons coming up, and I recommend for all you ladies to get involved and participate where/when you can!

Thank you for having me ladies!! @WomenOfInflnce
