Health is Wealth

Hey everyone, happy Monday!

So in case you didn’t know, I am now to be referred to as “Healthy Lauren”.  Ketchup-chip-Lauren is temporarily on hiatus, and glosette-raisin-Lauren has been kidnapped, with crop top season upon us. Kidding… I mean, vanity aside, it is my bday, and around this time I always get a little bit health crazy.  I re-focus, re-goal, and get involved in fitness and health for the warmer months ahead.

Every Monday I want to help you too start your week in a healthy head space, so I will post tips from the AMAZING Leroy Bascombe, Personal Trainer/Founder, CPT, CSCS,Boot camp, Boxing, TRX Instructor.

I train and take Leroy’s classes 3-4 times a week, and it is only week 3… and I already feel like I have more energy, flexibility and strength.

Health is Wealth Monday Tip:

“There are exercises that target your abs to help you get the rock-hard stomach you’ve always dreamed of. But if you really want to double-team belly bulge, then you’ll need to eliminate sugar and processed carbohydrate while also incorporating fat-burning foods into your diet.

Try and avoid eating out at fast food chains such as Tim Horton, Subway… all these places have processed food which can be deadly to your mid section. Try and prepare meals at home the night before so that you don’t have to spend money on food that are not computably with your health. Incorporate more fruits in the morning and more veggies in the afternoon.

Try and cut back on coffee and tea and keep a water bottle by your desk, drinking an excess amount of coffee or tea will dehydrate your body”

Yesterday morning I made delicious Paleo muffins with a friend, so that in the am, instead of reaching for that delicious (and fattening) croissant or bagel, I would have a healthier option, jam packed with protein and goodness.

Interested in a healthy alternative to say… Cheerio’s or Tim Horton’s?  The recipe is below:

Half Cup of Pumpin Puree

2 Eggs

Half Teaspoon of Baking Powder

Half Teaspoon of Cinnimon

Half Teaspoon of Vanilla

3/4 Cup of Amond Flour

2 Scoops of Vegan Vanilla Protein Powder

Add a few pumpkin seeds, raw walnuts, hemp hearts, dates, Lemon Zest

Tablespoon of coconut oil

Quarter Cup of Raw Honey

Quarter Cup of shredded Coconut

Quarter Cup of shredded Carrot

Mix it all up!! Pour it into your little cup cake pan… and put it in the oven!! Please Note (particularly my dad…) Hemp is not weed. Just confirming this for ya’ll (since my parents wouldn’t try them thinking they might catch a buzz… sigh.)

Bake at 350 for 1/2 hour
